SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS FROM MS. BEVERLY WHITE, DRE
Wow...what a wonderful time we had in the Lord! The weather was threatening, but the kids kept coming...our turnout was phenomenal! Thank you to the parents who braved the elements for the sake of the many excited and eager students who wanted to show off their talents for JESUS! Ms. Danielle and the 6th & 7th grade students lead the Prayer Service using the gospel story of Luke announcing the birth of Christ. Our Pre-K through grade 6 did a variety of carols for the season while our Confirmation students dramatized the story of the importance of "walking with Jesus" throughout our lives. Thank you teachers and students for your participation, enthusiasm and attention. The staff of our Sunday School wish all of our children, their families, Fr. Miller and all of the parishioners at St. B's a blessed and safe Christmas season. We look forward to seeing everyone back to classes on Sunday, January 4, 2009!

COLLEGE STUDENTS
We ask again that all of our parish college students who are away from home to please leave us your mailing address, email address and phone number, so we can stay in touch with you throughout the year.
SPEAKING OF STUDENTS ...
St. Bernardine’s Parish School’s 2nd grade ROCKS!!! They read 100 books this semester, and now, their special charity, “Children’s Village,” will be rewarded with 100 books from the Scholastic Book Club. It was a great and rewarding experience for our students to read, so that not only they, but someone else would benefit from their experience. And it did not cost us a dime to gain the 100 books for the “Children’s Village”. Thanks to the parish for your prayerful support.

SPEAKING OF HOW GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS...
As we recognize and thank our second graders for their generosity toward other kids, God has stepped into our midst. On Christmas Eve, our parish school received an unsolicited gift check for $5,000 FOR OUR NEW LIBRARY, from the Knott Foundation Trustees, some of whom were present for the grand opening of the new library back in October. Thank you!!! Cause and effect?

WHERE, O WHERE, IS THE PASTOR’S PAGE ???
It will be delivered orally at each Mass!!! Fr. Miller wants to make sure we are all on the “same page” regarding the many events in the Christmas and New Year activities. It is rumored that he may also sing that famous song of Pastors at Christmas: “I’m dreaming of a green Christmas,” regarding the Christmas collection.

CHANGES IN THE DECEMBER CALENDAR
• Decoration of the Church for Christmas will be done on SUNDAY, DECEMBER 21 at 4:00 p.m. The church choir needs the Tuesday evening time slot for their final rehearsal before Christmas.
• The daily Masses on both Friday, December 26 and January 2 will be at 9:00 a.m., and not the usual 8:00 a.m., due to the holidays. Since so many persons will have / take off on those Fridays, the 9:00 a.m. hour might afford some persons the opportunity to attend Mass on those days.

SAYING “THANK YOU” DOESN’T SEEM ENOUGH ...
My retirement celebration on Sunday was WONDERFUL, MARVELOUS, FANTASTIC and very EMOTIONAL to say the least! Yvette, Monique “Nikki” and Tee thank you for coordinating this event, you did a great job! Fr. Miller you were the best date ever! To my Always Sisters, Always Friends Crew, to my Knights (rocking chair carriers and movers), to my nurse, to my gift bearers and to my valet (Uncle James) for bring my vehicle to me, thank you, thank you! To my Baby Girls, you just might get that dinner before February. To my Barbies what can I say, I love you and thank you for just being you! I don’t want to forget anyone so, to any and everyone who had anything to do with making my retirement celebration a memorable one, I say thank you again and there are no words to match my gratitude.

What you all did for me was so special and something I will never forget. It was all so overwhelming as you all know and could visibly see, you know me. I cried so much I was making myself sick having to put up with it...... Sharing good times with good friends is the greatest joy. This is the stuff that makes life worthwhile. I am thankful for the relationships that have been formed and the friendships that have come my way, as they are all blessings. I am inspired to rise to higher and greater levels, because of my love for the Lord and I do what I do not only because of my love for HIM, but also because of my love for each of you. I see angels all around, as I see the face of God in so many of you. God is as available as we are. You all mean the world to me; you are my “FAMILY’. I am at HOME at St. Bernardine’s and I have gained so much love, comfort and peace being here. St. Bernardine’s I will never take for granted the gift that has been bestowed upon me. That gift is YOU!!
Written with a sincere heart and love,Denise, Aunt Nise, Neicey, Nana, Ma, Friend.
